Rohan stepped out of the school gate and held up his paper high. 'I passed!' he shouted to the trees.
The paper flapped in the wind and a pigeon cooed from the branch above.
He started to run down the green pathway. He tripped over his own shoelaces and tumbled into a pile of leaves.
He picked himself up, brushed leaves from his hair, and held the paper close to his chest.
A little girl walking behind him pointed at the paper. 'What's that?' she asked.
Rohan unfolded it and showed her the bright red numbers. She gasped and clapped her hands.
'Can I come too?' she said. Rohan shook his head and ran faster.
Rohan reached his gate and burst inside, paper waving. 'Papa! Mama! I passed!' He held the paper up.
His papa picked him up and spun him around. His mama kissed his head and read the numbers out loud.
The paper crinkled between them. Everyone laughed.
That evening, Rohan slept with his paper on his nightstand.
Moonlight touched the red numbers and the paper glowed softly. Rohan smiled in his sleep.
