Dawn painted the savanna gold. The young lion stretched and pushed open his termite-mound den. The tall grass outside was not green — it was bright purple.
He lifted one paw and set it down on the purple blades. They squeaked softly, like a balloon rubbing against fur.
Roro trotted toward the old acacia tree. Its golden fruits were glowing like little lanterns against the leaves.
He batted a glowing fruit gently. It bumped away, rolling in a slow circle, then stopped at his paws with a soft tap.
He passed a wildflower patch where the daisies and buttercups had rearranged themselves into a perfect spinning spiral.
Roro followed one spinning flower with his eyes. His ears pricked forward and his tail twitched as the colors caught the light.
A gentle humming rose from the blue mountains. The sky split — two suns appeared, lighting the savanna from both sides at once.
Roro froze with one paw lifted. His ears went wide. Then his whiskers did a little wiggle — one sun, then the other.
He took a deep breath of warm wildflower air. Then he puffed out his tiny chest and marched bravely toward the glowing acacia.
He reached the trunk and pressed his forehead against the bark. He purred low and happy as the whole savanna glowed around him.
