Rosie swung high on the park swing. Three sets of footsteps crunch on the gravel path. A horse, a fox, and a dog waited at the edge.
Rosie slowed the swing. Her fingers tightened on the cold metal chains. She stared at the three visitors.
Rosie climbed down and walked to the wooden shed. The three animals followed, quiet as shadows. She glanced back at them.
She pushed the door open with a loud groan. 'Come in,' she said with a smile. The animals peeked inside.
That night, a storm rolled over the hills. Rain hammered the shed roof. Wind rattled the wooden walls.
Rosie peeked inside. The horse, the fox, and the dog were curled up together. They breathed slow and steady.
The fox slipped through a gap in the fence. It dropped a red ball at Rosie's feet. The dog barked happily.
The next morning, Rosie pushed the swing gently. The dog sat beside her. 'This is perfect,' she thought.
