Saffi yawns on his den floor. Three tiny sounds slip through the dark—click, trill, plink. He tucks his tail tight. Three secrets. So he pads out.
The sun barely peeks. Saffi's paws drum the cool stone, then the warm sand. 'Today, I'll find them all,' he thinks, ears forward.
In the blazing sand, a golden scarab the size of a pebble darts under a rock. Saffi leans in. He breathes out slow.
Then—boing! The scarab bounces straight onto his nose. Saffi snorts. His whole head shakes. The tiny bug peeks out from his fur, clicking its shell.
Mist swallows the hills whole, folding the peaks into soft gray. Every stone step glistens. The mountain sits wrapped, holding still.
A tiny pearl wren lands on a branch and trills. The mist shimmers around it. Saffi freezes, ears shooting up as the wren tilts its head.
The turquoise sea roars. Saffi races the shore, paws slapping the sand. Then—a tiny blue fish leaps, spins, and SPLASHES right onto his paw!
The fish wiggles, then flops down his back. It slides off and tumbles into the waves. Sea foam drips from Saffi's whiskers.
Saffi curls up where the sand is still warm. Paws tucked under his chin. Fireflies drift over the dark water—blinking, blinking, blinking.
Dunes. Hills. Sea. Three secrets, all right here at home. Saffi's tail gives one slow wag. 'I found them,' he thinks. And blinks into the dark.
