Samaya climbed into bed. She reached for her teddy, but the spot beside her was empty.
She sat up. Her fingers traced the pink blanket’s soft weave. The teddy was gone.
She searched under the toy bin. It creaked. She frowned and pushed a stuffed rabbit aside.
Nothing. She peeked behind the curtain. Moonlight painted silver stripes on the floor.
She called, “Teddy?” but only the wind answered. She sighed.
Then she heard a tiny snore from her shoe. She lifted the sneaker carefully.
Her teddy curled up inside, wearing her nightcap. She giggled and hugged the fuzzy bear close.
Samaya climbed back into bed. The pink blanket settled around them. She drifted into sweet dreams.
