Sherlyn stood before the birthday cake. One giant candle wiggled on top.
She blew hard. The flame giggled and stayed lit. Sherlyn stomped her foot.
Auntie Asmita waved her paper fan. The spark painted rainbow spots on the wall.
Uncle Susan tiptoed in. The spark zipped onto his nose and tickled it pink.
Sherlyn watched the spark zoom. She thought, Why won't you go out?
Sherlyn hugged Auntie Asmita's leg and climbed onto Uncle Susan's lap.
The spark swooped down and landed in her cupped hands. It glowed bright.
Sherlyn's eyes went wide. A big grin spread across her face.
The spark hummed a happy tune against her palms. Sherlyn giggled.
The spark floated up and lit the garden decorations. Green leaves turned into shimmering stars.
Sherlyn clapped. The spark popped into confetti that smelled like cake!
Sherlyn laughed and reached up to catch the falling sparkles.
