Learning the letter S through adventure

The colorful classroom buzzed with happy noise. Paintings and alphabet posters covered every wall.

Sidra dug her hands deep into the sensory bin. Her fingers closed around something hard and smooth.

She pulled out a bright yellow block with a big red S. "S!" she shouted. Saud, Sultan, and Sara all looked up from their puzzles.

Sidra marched to the toy shelf and grabbed a glittery rubber snake. "S is for snake!" she announced proudly.

Sara grabbed a smaller toy snake that went ssss. The two snakes wiggled side by side.

Sidra tiptoed past the bookshelf and froze. Something huge and fuzzy crawled near the window — eight legs, two shiny eyes, and a tiny name tag.

Sandy the spider waved a little leg at her. Sidra giggled and reached out a finger.

Sidra grabbed a piece of blue chalk and ran to the easel. She drew a giant curly S that filled the whole page.

Saud drew a sun, Sultan drew a star, and Sara drew a spinning spiral — all made of curvy S shapes.

Sidra held up her S block next to the glittery snake. Sandy the spider crawled onto her finger.

The four friends stood in a circle and chanted together. "S, S, S!" The classroom buzzed with the sound.

Sidra smiled. The letter S was everywhere — in blocks, snakes, spiders, stars, suns, and spirals.
