For the very first time, Snowy slipped from the winter cloud. “Wheee!” Snowy spun past silver wisps as the wind went whoosh.
Snowy reached toward the cloud, but it floated far above. The little snowflake kept dropping through the enormous sky.
Snowy fluttered six tiny points, trying to stop. Whoosh! The wind flipped Snowy upside down, then backward, like a flying pinwheel.
“I’m still falling,” Snowy whispered. Far below, snowy ground appeared in soft white patches between the drifting air.
Snowy drifted through a soft cloud. Cool mist tickled Snowy’s edges as the cloud curled gently around the falling flake.
A bright sunbeam made Snowy sparkle like a tiny star. Snowy stretched wide to catch it, and the beam carried Snowy farther down.
Snowy tumbled toward a tall pine tree, then glided around its snowy tip. A gust sent Snowy bouncing onto a branch—boing!
Another gust lifted Snowy back into the open sky. “Down, please!” Snowy drifted past the pine and continued falling.
At last, Snowy landed on the snowy ground with a tiny plip. Other snowflakes rested nearby in the sparkling blanket.
Snowy no longer spun. New snow settled with a soft, quiet hush, while Snowy looked up and smiled at the next falling flake.
