Sofi lifted the lid. Sparkles burst out — pink gloss, purple blush, gold shimmer. It was like opening a treasure chest.
She grabbed the biggest brush, dipped it in glittery pink, and painted a big stripe across her cheek. Swish, swish. She grinned.
Blue shimmer on her eyelids. Orange gloss on her lips. Green sparkle on her fingertips. She checked the mirror and poked at her reflection — tap, tap, tap. Everything was so colorful!
She reached for the gold shimmer — but her elbow bumped the palette. It tipped over. Every color spilled across her desk in a wild rainbow mess.
She stared at the mess. Then at her brush. Then at the rainbow on her desk. An idea appeared.
Sofi dipped her brush into the spilled rainbow and painted a big wobbly star right on the mirror. It sparkled so brightly she gasped and covered her mouth.
She sat on her bed with the box open. The star on the mirror glowed behind her. She added one more coat of pink gloss and did a slow spin.
She stood in front of the mirror, painted and smiling. "This is me," she whispered. The star twinkled back.
Sofi grabbed her brush and started painting on the wall. A big swirling rainbow — from floor to ceiling. The paint smelled sweet and fruity.
She stepped back. Covered in color from head to toe, she laughed. One hand on her hip, the other holding her brush like a wand.
