Sophie ties her shoes. Sunlight spills over the sidewalk. Birds chirp from the oak tree above.
Sophie runs down the path. She sees a squirrel drop an acorn near the bench. 'Oops!' she says softly.
She wraps the acorn in her scarf. Gives it to the squirrel. The squirrel tumbles sideways into a flowerbed.
A blue jay hops closer, bobbing its head. Sophie pulls out half a peanut butter sandwich. The bird drops a shiny blue feather on her shoe.
Under the big oak, three children wave. 'Join us!' they call. The squirrel climbs onto her shoulder. The jay perches on her hat.
Evening arrives. Mom calls from the porch: 'Sophie?' She smiles, the feather in her pocket, the acorn safe in her bag.
Home again. Lights flicker on inside. The world hums quiet, full of little magic she carried all day.
Mom hugs her tight. 'You had adventure today,' she murmurs. Sophie nods, smiling wide, knowing tomorrow brings more.
