Spira unrolled her crinkly map. First stop: the daisy patch.
She tucked the map into her shell and zoomed forward. Her letters bumped softly as she went. A butterfly landed on her shell, then fluttered away in a cloud of gold.
Spira giggled and picked up the pace. Next stop: the twig bridge!
At the twig bridge, Spira paused. Her shell was too full to balance. She tried to slide a letter out, but it got stuck.
She wiggled and pulled until the letter popped free. Then she crossed carefully, one letter at a time. The twig creaked under her weight.
Sudden rain poured down and flooded the path. Spira spotted a floating leaf and hopped on, using a blade of grass as a rudder.
She spun in happy circles, then steered toward the next burrow. Raindrops tickled her antennae.
Spira arrived at the last friend's door and handed over the final letter. She turned to go home.
But something glinted in the grass. A blank letter with her name on it.
She unfolded it to find a drawing of all her friends.
Spira curled up beneath a broad leaf, the note pressed to her chest.
She smiled as the garden hummed around her.
