Mina walked to the market with a cardboard box on her head. It rattled as she went.
The box rattled as she bumped into a basket of apples. Red apples rolled everywhere.
People pointed and giggled. The baker asked, "What's on your head?"
Mina picked up a rolling apple and tucked it into her pocket. It felt cool and smooth.
Mina tried to play tag, but the children ran away. "We can't play with a box-head!" they called.
Mina sat on the bench alone. A butterfly landed on the box and flapped its wings.
Mina climbed onto the town well and took a deep breath. She lifted the box off with both hands. Her hair flew out. Everyone gasped. Mina smiled.
The baker handed Mina a bun. "You're beautiful," he said.
Mina walked home humming. The sun was warm on her face.
