understanding and expressing feelings

The little station sat at the end of a winding path, surrounded by colorful trees and flowers. Tobi walked along the path, his ticket held tight in his hand.

Tobi stepped onto the platform and looked up at the sign: "Feelings Only." A train pulled in, its carriages painted in bright red, deep blue, and sunny yellow. He held his ticket and stared.

Tobi climbed aboard the blue carriage and stepped inside. The door slid shut behind him with a quiet click. Now he was alone.

Inside, bubbles floated and popped, and a soft whoosh filled the space. Tobi poked one and watched it wobble away. "This is the Sadness Car," said a conductor's voice from somewhere inside the walls.

Tobi stepped into the red carriage. The door swung open to warmth and bright light. Heat washed over him like a blanket. He stepped fully inside.

A drum went boom-boom-boom and the floor shook under his shoes. Tobi stomped along with it, faster and faster, until he couldn't stop. The door banged shut behind him.

Tobi stepped into the yellow carriage. Soft laughter filled the air. Something tickled his elbows, and he looked down with a curious expression.

He looked down — a bouncy ball bounced around his ankles, then his knees, then his head. He couldn't help it. His mouth opened, and he laughed.

At the back of the train, Tobi found his own carriage — painted green and gold with his name on the door. He pushed it open, and all three colors swirled together into one warm, quiet light.

Tobi sat down and rested his chin on his knees. All the feelings settled around him in one gentle glow. He smiled, feeling completely okay.
