Felix weaves through the sunlit forest, his bushy tail swishing proudly as he calls out to the other animals. 'Watch me leap!' he announces to the quiet woods.
He vaults over a mossy log with a flourish. The rabbits blink at his performance, and Felix trots off, convinced he's the cleverest creature in the woods.
A sudden rustling draws Felix to a narrow hollow in an old oak tree. He squeezes his clever head inside to investigate, and his body slides right through — but then his broad shoulders catch firmly.
No amount of pulling or wriggling frees him. He wedges himself tighter, ears drooping, and gives one final frustrated yank that only makes him stuck deeper.
Felix tries to wiggle backward, then forward, then sideways, but the hollow holds him fast. 'Well,' he says to no one, tail flicking in irritation, and his pride begins to crack.
A small hedgehog named Pip appears at the opening, sniffing curiously at Felix's stuck tail. 'Need a hand?' Pip asks, and before Felix can refuse, Pip slips inside the hollow.
Pip slips inside the hollow and gently pushes Felix's haunches forward while tugging his shoulders — until Felix pops free with a soft whoosh of air.
Felix stands on wobbly legs, his fur ruffled and his face warm with embarrassment. Pip grins and offers a paw, and Felix shakes it, murmuring a quiet thank you.
The forest seems a little quieter, a little kinder, than it did before. Felix trots back toward the forest path, tail low and thoughtful.
Felix pauses when he sees a young squirrel tangled in a vine near the path. 'Here,' he says softly, bending down to help her untangle her paws.
The squirrel blinks in surprise, then smiles. Felix's tail gives a small, satisfied wag as they walk together down the forest path.
The forest path stretches ahead, golden and quiet. Felix walks with a new kind of pride — the kind that doesn't need an audience.
