Pip stood alone in the wilting garden. His green top drooped as he pushed the heavy stone.
Water trickled weakly. Pip pushed harder, splashing mud onto his orange skin. He could not move it alone.
Pip called for help. Tomatoes rolled away scared. Potatoes hid in the dirt. A rumble shook the ground.
Leaves dropped. Pip’s hope shriveled like a dry leaf. He felt very small and tired.
A beetle pushed a crumb. Pip bounced on his toes, trying to copy its strength.
He jumped high! But landed with a poof in a pile of soft lettuce. The lettuce giggled.
Pip laughed. He needed support, not just force. He invited the squash and pumpkin to help.
"Push, Pip! Pull, Stone!" they chanted. Together they pushed and pulled the heavy rock.
Snap! The stone cracked. Clean water sprayed everywhere in a happy geyser.
Everyone got soaked. The garden glowed with fresh color. Roots drank the happy water.
Friends wiped mud from their faces with broad leaves. Pip stood tall in the thriving garden.
The water sang a splash-song. Pip smiled. The garden grows best when they grow together.
