Mira opened her lunch beneath the village’s bright flower gardens. A hungry dog and a bird hurried over.
Mira broke her bread in two. “Share?” she asked. Crumbs pattered onto the path as the dog and bird gobbled happily.
On the woodland path, Mira heard a tiny “Meow!” A lost kitten peeked from beneath a fern.
Mira followed the kitten’s pawprints past a squeaky gate. Then she carried the kitten toward the village while it purred against her sleeve.
Beside the little school, Mira saw a lonely neighbor with an untouched cup of tea. Mira balanced a flowerpot on her head, and the neighbor laughed.
Mira offered a bright blossom. The neighbor clapped, and the kitten gave a surprising sneeze: “Achoo!”
Later, Mira tried to carry a heavy basket of vegetables home. It bumped along the road and tipped with a loud THUMP!
Mira grabbed the handle again, then stopped. The dog, bird, kitten, and neighbor were hurrying over to help.
Together, everyone carried the basket past the gardens. The kitten rode on top like a tiny captain.
Mira laughed as vegetables rolled and flowers bobbed. Everyone gathered around her door for a shared meal.
