Tenzin Nyima skipped across the Bylakuppe Tibetan Homes School playground. Then a tiny ant slipped beneath a crumb.
The slide squeaked in the warm air. Tenzin Nyima bent close and watched the crumb wobble.
Tenzin Nyima nudged the crumb with a small twig. It rolled away, and the ant rushed after it.
The quick little legs made a tiny parade. Tenzin Nyima smiled and followed with the twig.
Tenzin Nyima pushed the crumb toward the anthill. A puff of wind sent it tumbling backward past her shoe.
Tenzin Nyima cupped one hand beside the crumb. “This way,” she whispered, guiding it around a pebble.
The ant climbed over the crumb. Tenzin Nyima whispered, “This way,” and kept her hand still.
At last, the crumb reached the anthill. The ant marched straight over Tenzin Nyima’s bright shoelace.
Tenzin Nyima giggled as the ant vanished inside. Then the crumb disappeared too, carried into the busy little hill.
Tenzin Nyima returned to the playground path. The swing creaked softly in the breeze.
The ant came out again and moved forward beside the anthill. Tenzin Nyima skipped on.
The tiny traveler kept working. Tenzin Nyima followed the path beneath the creaking swing.
