Lumi flutters alone. His light flickers shyly. Other fireflies buzz in a bright circle.
A small bird falls with a chirp. It lands on a root. Lumi blinks close.
Lumi taps his wing—click!—and points upward. The bird hops along, cautious.
They move through shadows. A mushroom glows—it yawns! A tiny frog laughs 'whoosh.'
They reach the old owl’s hollow. The first pale light touches the branches.
The bird chirps, 'Thank you, Lumi!' His light dims—he can barely see himself.
Sun warms the leaves. The bird waits each evening. Calls softly, 'Lumi?'
Fireflies slow down. One space stays empty. They wait for their friend.
