Stella tumbles from the velvet sky. She bounces off a pinecone — thump! — and lands in the dark forest.
She stares at her own pale glow. It flickers. And flickers. Stella wants to hide.
A tiny light darts through the ferns. Blink — a firefly hovers near her nose.
Stella shrinks behind the mushroom. The forest smells like damp earth and old leaves. She doesn't want to move.
Stella peeks over the mushroom cap. The firefly buzzes around her head. Buzz, buzz.
She holds out a trembling hand. The firefly lands on her fingertip. It's warm.
The firefly zips upward. Zip, zip. Stella follows, her glow growing brighter with every step.
Stella floats higher and higher. She pokes her head through the clouds.
Below, the forest is very dark, but she can see the firefly's tiny light.
She winks at the firefly. It winks back.
