A silver-blue firefly zipped past the window. It hovered at the edge of the garden fence. Lumi squeezed through the gap.
Her fingers brushed something warm and humming. The starlight archway glowed brighter when she stepped through.
Flowers everywhere were gray and closed tight. She pointed. My favorite color is yellow!
The ground trembled. A fat daisy popped open, pulsing gold. Lumi grinned and stomped her foot — the daisy giggled.
She whispered pink to a bud. It sneezed open in a rush of rose petals. Pink petals swirled around her.
She tried blue. A cup of starlight spilled over her shoes. Blue light pooled around her feet.
She tried orange. A flower blew bubbles. They floated up and popped on her nose. Pop!
A tiny creature dropped from a vine. It was made of twigs and moss. Its eyes sparkled like dewdrops.
"You're loud with colors," it said. Lumi sat down. She made a small shape with her hands.
She whispered purple. A soft lavender glow rose between them. The glow painted everything in calm light.
The creature's eyes went wide. It reached out, and its fingers glowed purple too. It laughed — a sound like wind chimes.
The whole garden erupted in color. Every flower blazed at once. Lumi and the creature held hands in the rainbow light.
