Emberglow followed a pale moonbeam along the winding forest path. Whispering pines swallowed the glow ahead.
Emberglow blew a puff of air. “Whoosh!” No spark appeared, and the dark mushrooms seemed to blink.
Emberglow turned toward the faintest light. Somewhere beyond the pines, a tiny rustle answered.
Beside a fallen branch, a tiny fox could not see the path. Emberglow lifted the branch and guided the fox beneath the moonlight.
Pine needles crackled under their feet. The fox trotted away, and one tiny orange spark popped from Emberglow’s mouth.
Emberglow followed the moon’s glow to glowing mushrooms. A fox cub was lost among their winding paths.
Emberglow made three little sparks. “Pop, pop, POP!” The last landed on a mushroom, which shone like a tiny moon.
Emberglow laughed and followed the bright trail onward. Each shining mushroom marked the way.
At the darkest bend, Emberglow found the way home hidden behind pine branches. Then the moon slipped behind a cloud.
Emberglow lit the path with a strong golden spark. The trees glittered, and the familiar doorway glowed beyond the branches.
Emberglow’s flame shone again. Emberglow followed the sparkling path home beneath the returning stars.
Emberglow curled beneath the starry sky as the moon returned. At the forest edge, the fox watched while one small mushroom lit the way back tomorrow.
