Every morning, Pepper, Bunt, and Luz meet at their sunny clearing. Today Pepper spots something new behind a curtain of ivy.
'Let's follow it!' Pepper says, tail flicking with excitement. The three friends step onto the path. Twigs crunch under their paws.
The path dips and winds. Pepper leads the way, ears perked and nose twitching. Birds chirp from the branches above.
A fallen log blocks the trail. Bunt hoists it up. Luz hops across first, then calls back. Pepper takes a running leap and tumbles onto soft moss.
The trees part all at once. Before them lies a secret meadow — wild berries everywhere, purple and red and dripping with juice.
Pepper reaches for a berry, then pulls back and looks at Bunt and Luz. 'Share?' Pepper asks.
The three sit together in the golden grass, eating berries until their paws are stained purple, laughing all the while.
The meadow stretches wide and sweet, and the three friends stay just a little while longer.
