Tumble stepped through door number one. The hallway stretched on forever — a hundred doors, all exactly the same.
He pressed his nose against a brass number plate. The doorknob rattled — Tumble scrambled backward!
Tumble tried door thirty-seven — a room full of bouncing trampolines! But the doors kept slamming shut.
Door sixty-two: a library where books flew like birds. They dropped him right back into the hallway.
Tumble counted on his paws. One hundred doors — and none stopped for him.
By door ninety-nine, Tumble curled into a tight ball. Then he heard it — a soft humming tune.
The humming grew louder. Door ninety-nine began to glow golden from underneath.
Tumble reached for the knob and froze. A sign read: 'Reserved for Tumble.' How could anyone know his name?
The door creaked open. A warm room with a crackling fireplace, a fluffy armchair, and a steaming teacup.
'I saved this seat just for you,' she said. Tumble's ears finally stood up straight as he hopped inside.
