During recess, Milo saw Mr. Lin slip into the supply closet. He tiptoed after him.
The door clicked shut. Then a tiny voice whispered from inside, 'Ready, Whiskers?'
Milo peered through the keyhole. Mr. Lin held a fox puppet, and three cats watched from a perfect row.
A mouse puppet scampers across a shelf. One cat bats at it — boop! Milo gasped and covered his mouth.
The next day, Milo slipped a crumpled paper into Mr. Lin's pocket. It had a drawing of a dragon.
Mr. Lin found the drawing. He held up a finger to his lips — then pointed to the closet.
Milo grinned and followed him inside. 'Show me how to do it,' he whispered.
They practiced together. Milo flapped the wings and Mr. Lin made the dragon roar.
The white cat purred loudly. Milo laughed. It was the best recess ever.
Every day after school, they put on the show. Soon the hallway grew full of faces.
Children, then teachers, then the whole school crowded the hallway to watch.
Mr. Lin and Milo bowed together. The dragon took a final bow.
