Under the big oak tree, a new boy sits alone. His sandwich falls on the grass.
Jax watches from afar. He sees the boy’s sad smile. 'He looks lonely,' Jax thinks.
The boy's tummy rumbles. A tiny growl like distant thunder. Jax takes a breath.
Jax offers half an apple. The boy shakes his head, pointing to his lunchbox.
Jax pulls a paper airplane from his pocket. He pushes it across the grass.
The boy catches it. Unfolds. Sees Jax drawn inside! 'Can you fly it again?', he asks.
They run now, chasing the plane together. Laughter floats like bubbles into the sky.
Recess ends. But friendship starts. They sit together under the oak, sharing crumbs.
