Zarina the little fox followed a trail of blue glow-worms past emerald trees. The forest floor burst into light.
Dozens of night flowers flickered open all at once. She froze, ears forward, as a soft hum drifted through the trees.
Zarina crept toward the nearest glowing flower and reached out a paw. The flower bobbed sideways, then giggled — sound like wind chimes.
Her whiskers drooped and she let out an embarrassed huff. The flower pulsed brighter, as if laughing.
Zarina sat back and waited, eyes half-closed. A butterfly painted in starlight landed gently on her nose.
She sneezed — and a ripple swept through every flower. Each one bloomed a different color and hummed a new note.
Zarina curled up in a pile of soft moss beneath the singing flowers. The glow settled around her like a blanket.
She pressed her cheek against the warm moss and smiled. A low lullaby hummed all around her.
