A red-taped scroll fluttered into the den. Tunda's ears twitched. She decided to find the monster herself.
Tunda bounded past the first banyan tree. One! Past the second. Two! She did not look back.
Three! A frog croaked. Tunda darted past the lotus pond. Then the ground rumbled.
She crept forward, paw on warm stone, ready to spring. Something huge moved in the tall grass.
Tunda sniffed a giant grey ear. She blinked up at a long trunk. It was wailing, 'Moooom?'
Tunda tapped the trunk. 'Hello!' she chirped. Then she scampered off, tail high, leading the way.
The elephant followed,每一步 heavy and slow. Tunda glanced back and waited patiently.
Distant trumpets echoed from the river. The elephant's ears flared wide. 'That is home!'
They reached the riverbank. The elephant stopped. Tunda sat beside her new friend and watched.
Leaf shadows danced on the water. Somewhere nearby, a baby elephant splashed and trumpeted. Tunda smiled.
