Valentino stood before the TV with both controllers held up like shields. 'Ready?' he called out. The screen flickered, then burst into a bright melody that filled the living room.

The young boy pressed buttons beside his parents, whose large hands covered the controllers completely. On screen, their character ran straight into a wall again. Valentino giggled. 'This way!' he showed, tracing the D-pad with one finger.

Again the character bumped the wall. The mother let out a soft laugh. The father squinted at the screen. 'Maybe you should drive,' he admitted. Valentino leaned back and grinned.

Valentino took both controllers and guided his parents' hands onto them. 'Left, right, jump,' he counted. Their character started moving, bumping less, learning the rhythm together.

Suddenly the screen flashed gold. A secret level opened — three pixel people joined hands and sparkled. Valentino's parents gasped at once, leaning forward until their shoulders pressed together.

On screen, the pixel family held hands and glowed brighter with each level cleared. Valentino thought this was the best level ever — not because of the game, but because everyone was playing together.

The credits rolled in soft white letters across a dark background. No one reached for the power button. The father sighed happily. 'That was fun,' he said. The mother nodded. 'We should play again tomorrow.'

They stayed in the warm blue light, the controllers still resting in laps. The young boy already knew tomorrow would be just as good. He set the alarm for morning and fell asleep with a smile.
