Valeria's craft room glowed with sun. Bins of rainbow rubber bands sat everywhere. Her wooden loom board waited on the table.
She hooked a yellow band onto her loom board. Pull. Pull. The board clicked as she worked.
Pop! A tiny red bird with a yellow beak tumbled free. She held it up proudly.
She spun until the room became streaks of rainbow colors. "One down!" she chirped.
Valeria wanted another bird. She strung orange, green, and blue bands onto the board. But they kept slipping off.
She tried again, faster. The orange band snapped with a sharp twang!
Green bands knotted into a mess. She got tangled up too. After a long untangle, she picked up a blue band. She hooked it on carefully.
She looped red, yellow, orange, green, and blue all at once. The board shimmied — POP! A whole flock of tiny rainbow birds tumbled out!
The little birds tapped across the table. Click-clack, click-clack. Valeria arranged them in a sunny row on the windowsill.
Each little bird faced a different direction, ready to fly anywhere. She picked up her loom board and smiled. Time to make something new.
