Yimu stood on a stool in the village square. “I want to make this Easter the best and most memorable!”
She dragged a long table from home. Eggs, paint bowls, and every brush she found soon covered it.
The whole family gathered around the table. “First one to paint their egg wins!”
Yimu lined up the eggs and slapped a giant “GO!” sticker on the wall. Brushes lifted. Paint pots popped open.
Dad dipped too deep. SPLAT! Blue paint landed on his nose. Mom painted a stripe and giggled like a zebra.
Grandma sneezed. “Achoo!” Pink speckled her egg. Yimu’s brush slipped, drawing a crooked smile.
Yimu scrubbed the smile away, but a wobbly sun appeared instead. She laughed so hard her brush bounced.
The sun sank low. Everyone placed the eggs on the windowsill, one by one, while evening purpled the village.
Then the eggs began to glow. Golden light shimmered across every painted stripe, dot, and sun.
The family gasped and pressed close to the glass. The colors pulsed softly in the fading light.
Yimu curled into Mom’s lap and pointed at the glowing eggs. “We did it,” she said.
Dad lifted Yimu toward her sun egg. Outside, the village grew quiet, but the eggs kept shining.
