Zavie rolled down the Skyville runway. Above him, big planes roared and rumbled. He watched them go, dreaming of flying high.
Zavie rested his nose near a crack in the tarmac. A tiny red ladybug crawled onto his wingtip. 'Hello,' he whispered.
Thunder cracked over the harbor! Wind howled through the construction yard. Zavie's eyes widened. A chick was tangled in seaweed on a rocky islet, calling for help in the rain.
Zavie zoomed to the construction yard. Mama Mika revved her scoop. 'Hold on!' she called. Zavie hooked onto a flatbed trailer loaded with wooden planks and tugged them toward the water.
Papa Dhiraj honked loudly and backed toward the harbor. 'I'll carry whatever you build!' he shouted. Zavie dragged the planks to the water's edge.
Didi Inara splashed into the churning water. Her silver tail flashed as she reached the islet and unwrapped the seaweed. She nudged the shivering chick toward the shore. 'Here you go,' she said.
Zavie lifted off! The chick sat safely on his back. The planks were lashed to his belly. Papa Dhiraj honked a cheerful path through town as they flew toward the skyport.
At the skyport, a mother bird swooped down and chirped. Zavie settled onto the runway. Mama Mika, Papa Dhiraj, and Didi Inara lined up beside him. The chick was home.
