Zibbi flew to the heart of Fairyland and gasped. The Moonberry crystals were dark, their glow gone. She thought something was terribly wrong. Then she saw it — a trail of sparkling footprints leading toward the Dark Hollow.
She followed the glittering footprints deep into the Dark Hollow. The trees whispered around her, and the moss felt soft and damp beneath her wings. The trail glowed brighter with every step.
She held her breath and crept forward, past giant mushrooms and twisting roots. The glow grew stronger, pulsing like a heartbeat in the dark.
Behind a curtain of ivy, she found the thief. A small shadow sprite was curled on the ground, shivering. It looked up with wide eyes and reached a trembling hand toward the nearest crystal.
Zibbi stopped. She looked at the dim crystal, then at the shivering sprite. With a gentle snap, she broke her own Moonberry crystal in two.
She held out the glowing half. The sprite took it and let out a soft, happy hum that made the crystal shine brighter. Together, they carried the two halves back.
They placed the crystals back on their stone. Fairyland blazed with golden light once more. The sprite glowed warmly beside Zibbi, no longer hidden in the dark.
Zibbi smiled and sat close as the whole woodland sparkled around them, bright and beautiful once again.
