At the edge of the village, a tiny art studio sat beside the gardens. Inside, Bristle Bloom found an old paintbrush on a dusty shelf.
She brushed a blue loaf of bread onto the board. Puff! It popped out warm and real, with a little cloud of flour.
Bristle Bloom laughed. A tiny silver tag on the brush glinted: Only paint what is needed. She ran outside to try again.
In the lane, she painted red apples for an empty basket. Pop, pop, pop! Then she painted a patch for a dripping roof. Plink! Flutter! It settled right into place.
Neighbors clapped, and the roof shone in the sun. Bristle Bloom beamed. But when she thought of her own plain room, the brush gave a sharp little buzz in her hand.
At home, she swished the brush again and again for herself. Cakes, a velvet chair, ribbons, toys, and even a bouncing painted pony burst into her room.
At first, Bristle Bloom cheered. Then the window rattled. The pony clopped into the lane, cakes rolled downhill, and ribbons whipped around garden gates like silly snakes.
She dashed after them as the whole village turned noisy.
Quickly, Bristle Bloom splashed a big gray bucket and a sturdy broom into being.
She scooped cakes from the fountain, lifted ribbons from the roses, and steered the painted pony away from the cabbages.
"Back to helping, not grabbing!" she called. Then she painted one long, careful stroke.
Soft plop, plop, plop. The extra things turned into neat pots of paint on the cobblestones. One last funny neigh, and the pony became paint too.
The next morning, Bristle Bloom carried the brush from cottage to cottage. She painted a missing fence slat, a watering can, and bright signs for the little market.
The brush stayed quiet. Bees hummed in the gardens. A gate clicked shut, and a child waved beside a freshly painted bench.
