In the cozy burrow, bedtime was almost ready.
Then a little star slipped through the round window and landed with a soft ping on the rug.
"Bedtime? Not yet," said Twila. The star gave one bright wink.
Off drifted the star, straight to the wash bowl.
Twila splashed her paws in the bowl. The water turned sparkly blue.
Plink-plink went the drops on the stone. Twila almost smiled.
When she grabbed for the star, it zipped to the toothbrush cup.
So Twila scrubbed her teeth while the star bobbed left, right, left like a tiny lantern.
A puff of foam made a snowy mustache. Twila laughed at her face in the shiny spoon.
Then the star floated to the bed and tapped the blanket. Twinkle-twinkle.
Twila stomped over and flopped onto the blanket.
But the star suddenly rose to the window, and the whole burrow went dim.
"Wait," whispered Twila.
The leaves rustled outside. The bed felt too empty.
Slowly, the star glided back down.
Twila tucked in and took one slow bunny breath with the star's twinkle-twinkle pace.
Her ears drooped at last. The burrow glowed warm and quiet.
The star gave one last wink. "Goodnight," whispered Twila.
