The little pirate ship bumped away from shore across the sparkling bay.
On deck, the young pirate cat snapped open an old treasure map. CRACKLE!
The paper crackled so loudly that even the gulls cried overhead.
The young pirate cat squinted at the wiggly X, lifted one paw, and called, “Treasure island, this way!”
The ship turned toward the first mark on the map.
Then WHOOSH! A gust whipped the sail sideways and sprayed salt water across the deck.
The young pirate cat dug in, grabbed the wheel, and laughed. “Nice try, wind!”
Soon the map led through choppy waves. A giant splash leaped up beside the ship like a shiny sea monster!
The young pirate cat blinked. Plop! It was only a silly school of fish.
Silver tails flickered in the sun as the little pirate ship hurried toward the island.
The young pirate cat jumped onto treasure island with the old map and paced from the crooked palm tree to the black rock.
At the big X, the young pirate cat stopped. Far over the bay, dark clouds rumbled.
Scritch, scratch, SCRITCH! The young pirate cat dug fast in the sand.
CLUNK! The shovel knocked something hard.
The young pirate cat flipped open the treasure chest, and gold shone across every whisker.
With a happy laugh, the young pirate cat scooped up the treasure and hurried back to the ship.
The little pirate ship sailed home through pink evening light.
Pirate laughter rang all across the bay.
