With a soft click, the bedroom light turned off. Wu Dengdeng pulled her little blanket up to her chin and stared at the dark ceiling. The gap in the wardrobe door looked like a thin line, and the curtains swayed gently. She whispered, "Is there something hiding in there?"
Wu Dengdeng covered her head with the blanket and quietly peeked out through a small opening. The room was so quiet that all she could hear was the clock ticking. The clothes piled on the chair looked like a big mess, and she quickly pulled her feet back under the blanket.
Holding her little blanket, Wu Dengdeng scooted to the other side of the bed, pushed her pillow in front of her for a little shield, and finally gathered her courage to shout, "I see you!" At that moment, a beam of moonlight slipped in and lit up the floor. That "shadow" turned out to be her teddy bear, tilting its head in a funny way.
Wu Dengdeng blinked and sat up in bed, following the moonlight to look at the other corners of the room. The bookshelf stood quietly, and the box of building blocks was neatly against the wall. A gentle breeze whispered through the hallway, like someone humming a soft song.
Wu Dengdeng hugged her little blanket tightly, gently got out of bed, and walked to the door on the cool floor, peeking into the quiet hallway. The long darkness didn't rush out; only the moon outside cast its silvery light on the ground. She reached out to touch the doorframe and softly said, "Oh, so that's how it is."
Wu Dengdeng returned to bed, tucked in her little blanket, and turned to look at the moonlight falling on her familiar toys. The bedroom was very quiet, and the clock was still ticking. Wu Dengdeng slowly closed her eyes and fell asleep, hugging her little blanket.
