Hesham pointed a sticky finger at the very top of the garden tree. A giant, yellow mango swayed in the breeze. On a nearby branch, a fuzzy brown squirrel chattered loudly, staring right at the exact same delicious fruit.
He thought he better move fast! Hesham spun around and raced straight toward the wooden shed. He gathered his very best building tools. The squirrel wasn't going to win this race!
Hesham stacked three wooden crates and a plastic bucket into a tall, wobbly tower. He climbed up, up, up. Whoosh! The squirrel leaped right past his ear. The bucket tilted, and Hesham tumbled into a crunchy pile of autumn leaves.
Dragging a mini trampoline to the trunk, Hesham strapped two soft pillows to a long broom handle. BOING! He bounced high into the air. He swung the pillows to gently nudge the golden fruit.
Swoosh! The broom only hit empty green leaves. The squirrel scurried even higher up the thin branches, letting out a tiny, squeaky laugh. The mango was still completely out of reach.
The squirrel stretched its tiny paws and tapped the golden mango. CRACK! The thick stem snapped. The heavy fruit plummeted past the branches, spinning incredibly fast toward the muddy garden grass.
Hesham dove forward, stretching his arms as wide as they could go. Smack! He caught the smooth, heavy mango right before it went splat in the mud. He let out a giant cheer.
Hesham took a huge bite. Sweet, sticky juice dripped all over his chin. He looked up at the chattering squirrel on the low branch and tossed up a thick slice. They munched their tasty treats together in the quiet garden.
