Leo wiggled his loose tooth with his tongue. It felt like a tiny smooth stone.
He pulled it out with a soft pop.
Leo placed the tooth under his pillow and climbed back into bed.
He pulled the covers up to his chin and stared at the clock. Tick. Tick. Tick.
Leo's eyes grew heavy. The room began to shimmer.
The walls melted into a garden of silver stars.
A tiny figure with wings made of pearl and light floated down.
"You lost a tooth!" she said, her voice like wind chimes.
The tooth fairy held out a little book filled with pressed petals.
"Every tooth is a tiny celebration," she said. "It means you grew braver, taller, stronger."
Sunlight spilled across the bed and Leo blinked awake.
A shiny silver coin rested in his palm. Leo grinned and held it up to the morning light.
