A StoryKit alternative you can use today
Meta's StoryKit is an 18+ pilot, live in only a handful of countries. Doodara makes the same kind of personalized, AI-illustrated bedtime books — free, worldwide, right in your browser.
What is Meta StoryKit?
StoryKit is an AI storytelling app Meta began piloting in July 2026. Parents create a character by photographing a toy or a person, choose a setting and a life lesson — kindness, courage, empathy — and StoryKit generates an illustrated picture book with narration and an original music score, plus audiobook, read-aloud, and printable PDF versions. It's built on Muse Spark, Meta Superintelligence Labs' model.
The catch: it's a limited pilot. StoryKit is available in only a few countries (on iOS, with the App Store listing live in Mexico), it's restricted to users 18 and older, and it has no sharing features. If you're outside the pilot — or you just want to make a book now — you need an alternative that's actually open to everyone.

StoryKit FAQ
Is Meta StoryKit available in the US?
Not yet. As of July 2026, StoryKit is a pilot Meta is running in a limited set of countries (with App Store availability in Mexico), and Meta has not announced a US launch or a wider rollout. Doodara, by contrast, is available worldwide today in any web browser.
Can kids use StoryKit on their own?
No. StoryKit is age-gated to users 18 and older and has no social or sharing features, so it's positioned as a tool for parents rather than something a child uses independently.
What's the best Meta StoryKit alternative?
Doodara is the closest alternative you can actually use right now: it creates personalized, AI-illustrated picture books with narration, turns a photo into your child's character, and lets you share a link or order a printed hardcover — no pilot, no waitlist, no app install.
Is Doodara free?
Yes. Your first book is free and you don't need to create an account to start. A Pro plan ($7.99/mo) unlocks more books, photo-based characters, and batch creation, and printed hardcovers are available separately.
Can I make my child the main character?
Yes. On the Pro plan you can turn a photo into a story character that stays consistent across every page of the book, across all 10 supported languages.
